    RIP Casey Kasem

Kind of saw this one coming down the road. What a mess at the end. I know he'll be remembered as Shaggy but my favorite thing he did was that 15 second radio cameo he had in Ghostbusters. Now on with the countdown....

Thanks for being a big part of my childhood Casey. Shaggy, Robin, Peter Cottontail, the Weekly Top 40, The Rock Flowers announcer. You'll be missed. RIP

I knew it was coming...but I still can't believe it. The voice of Shaggy...Robin...Peter Cottontail. Gone.
A big part of my childhood died with him...what a sad day. I can't believe he was 82 either...makes me feel old.

The greatest mystery of all awaits you Shaggy...RIP.

I just learned about this roughly 15 minutes ago. Yes, we all saw this coming (they took him off life support a couple days ago), but I remain quite saddened by the news.

His old American Top 40 shows are still replayed weekend mornings on a local station; I don't think I ever missed a single one back in my youth. "And now, on with the Countdown." Sad, sad news.

Sad to hear but not surprising. He'll always be Shaggy and Robin to me.

He spent most of his last days in Kitsap county(not far from where I live), so I've been watching this unfold closely. Thoughts and prayers go out to his kids, especially Karrie. RIP, Casey. You will be missed, sir. Thanks for all the years of great entertainment. Special thanks to his kids for sharing their dad with the rest of us.

I remember the day it hit me that Robin and Shaggy had the same voice...AND that is was the guy on the radio to boot! I remember his video countdown show in the 80s as well. I think it was syndicated?

I had no idea he was 82 either. He was voicing Shaggy in most movies and series up until just a few years ago when he handed the mic over to Matthew Lillard (from the live action Scooby films). He still played Shaggy's dad in Mystery, Inc.!

                    RIP Casey.

Will always remember him most for being the voices of Shaggy, Robin, and of course Mark from Battle of the Planets. RIP.

He has left a pretty big legacy in voiceovers and broadcasting. Right up there with Mel Blanc and Gary Owens.

                            RIP Casey.

If goes without saying what a big part of our childhoods he was (often when we weren't aware of it). He was such a huge part of the radio on the weekends in the 70s and 80s. Great memories.

Casey Kasem was one of my all time favorites. He was one of the reasons I went into radio and more than that, he was one of the reasons I am pursuing a career as a voice actor. He was the last of the old time radio greats. Shaggy was my second favorite character he played. My top favorite was Robin in both the Filmation Batman series and in the Super Friends. I am a Robin fan and proud of it as well as Batman and the reason is because of Casey Kasem. Yes, I enjoyed Burt Ward and Chris O Donnell as well as Loren Lester's portrayals of Dick Grayson (Robin). But It was Casey Kasem who made me a huge fan of the Boy/Teen Wonder. His Robin was not a scrawny little kid or a goof up. Kasem's Robin was a very competent teenager or college kid and his performance as Robin commanded respect.
Casey Kasem's passing made me realize that everyone on the Adventures of Batman series is gone now (Ted Knight and Olan Soule). I don't know if Jane Webb is still alive. And on the Super Friends. only Wonder Woman (Shannon Farnon) is left unless you include Wendy and Marvin (Sherry Alberoni and Frank Welker). And now, both Scooby Doo and Shaggy's original voices are gone. (R.I.P. Don Messick).
If Dick Clark was the ageless DJ, then Casey Kasem was the agelesss teenage voice since most of the characters he played were teenagers. Hard to believe he was 82 for the very reason.
Farewell Casey Kasem. You will be missed. R.I.P.
