Read the book "Giger's Alien". He was something else.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.Comment

Sad to hear, I just wonder how the art work will be done for future alien films, was he still working with Scott, or was his art copied by someone else for the films. I remember as a 8 year old, some older kid showed me a photo album of his work, and told me this is what "hell" looks like, and I believed him, I was seriously freaked out

Sad to hear he will be missed. R.i.p.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

There has never been anything else like his work...I was always slightly disturbed, or maybe unsettled, by it. To me it said genius and madness at the same time.Sad to hear, I just wonder how the art work will be done for future alien films, was he still working with Scott, or was his art copied by someone else for the films. Didn't he create Species also?Comment

I wonder if his grave willl be his own design? Imagine a Giger Tomb!
I know there was a Giger Bar, and his own house looked so spooky, all-black, with these weird spine-shaped chairs.
With all due respect to Ridley Scott, but if Dan O'Bannon hadn't brought Giger's art to the table, the movie wouldn't have been anywhere near as groundbreaking..

"Didn't he create Species also?"
Yes he did and I in fact got to meet him briefly when I worked on the set of Species 2. Here's my story...There was a rumor going around that he was coming to visit the set. I brought my Giger necronomicon book's with me but i had to leave it behind because it was in my backpack and I couldn't bring it on the set. So a couple days later they were filming a scene with "eve" on of the species Im working on a prop and I turn around and who do I see standing there with the director is the man himself! My heart starting pounding like a jackhammer but i continued working. The director and him starting arguing in german and he starts yelling in his thick accent "this is not right" several times. So the director storms off for a minute and he stood there arms folded all by himself. I said screw it and went over and told him i was a huge fan of his work and he shook my hand and said "thank you " Real fast told him I grew up with his art it was inspiring etc etc.. He smiled and was very very nice. Told him I had to get back to work and then told me he was gonna hang out and have lunch and if we wanted to talk more meet him there. (there was a catered food cafeteria tent outside on the set) I smiled and said "thank you" shook his hand again and off he went arguing with the director. I never did get to go to lunch that day because we had to keep filming and I never saw him again. but that's my story of how I meet the Master!
