For me I have nothing but good memories of MTV.
In my late elementary school years I remember when my parents first got cable in 1984 and it was HUGE deal back then where I lived to have cable. Before cable I recorded friday night videos every week. I was to young to stay up and watch it so I would record it. Getting MTV in 84 meant i could watch all the new music all the time. Even if I didn't like the song or video I still watched it.
My high school and a couple years after high school our saturday nights were all about the headbangers ball! We would have to sit through endless crap to see a video we liked! Good Times! i would watch yo mtv raps when rap was a new thing. The young ones on sunday night's as well as 120 minutes was another good memory.
My college years were all about the Bevis and Butthead era 92-94.
Me and friends have talked about it over the years but we all would say around 95 it all started to go downhill.
But yea Im nostalgic for old MTV

Finally, a reality check for all those who (paraphrasing the vid) want to "rebel against The Man".

It should be required watching for anyone who enters this thread... or, at least, anyone over 30 who pines for "the good old days" of rock n' roll.

I don't think I can rip and share this thing fast enough.
That's not why I entered this thread. For me anyways,it has more to do with the fact these channels use to show specific types of shows and have wandered away from that. When was the last time MTV had anything to do with music? When was the last time TLC has shown anything that you would call educational? That's my beef.

^^^ Exactly. As a customer i'm not happy about the content.

There is a MTV channel playing current videos but I cant think of what it was...MTV hits?

Me and friends have talked about it over the years but we all would say around 95 it all started to go downhill.
Yea, TRL became about the only thing worth watching most of the time. There was also Jesse Camp....

I remember MTV at my aunt's house in 1981. That was a very long time ago now. Crazy ain't it?

I just heard on the radio that today is Martha Quinn's birthday. She's 55! Now I feel really old. She looks good for 55 though!
