    Horton Hears A Who

Well, I admit it...I saw this film today and thought it was great!
I took my Sister to the movies this afternoon--planning on seeing 10,000 BC, but she balked when she saw the movie poster...Horton was the compromise.....and I'm glad I lost. Its really quite entertaining and doesnt feel like a kiddie flic at all. Really too bad they didnt do the Grinch in this style, and with the same Suessical feel and elements.
If you do go see it keep an eye out for the Chuck Jones as a Whovian portrait in the Mayors house.

I've seen nothing but good reviews for it. I've been debating on whether my 5 year old would sit through it.
    It's all good!

My son's kindergarten class is going to see it this Thursday, but the more I see about it, the more I think I'd probably enjoy it too. I thought the Grinch was okay, but the Cat in the Hat movie didn't do too much for me.

It was pretty good. I laughed out loud quite a few times. I though Carrell and Carrey were really funny. It was way better than grinch and CITH.

Both reviewers on Ebert & Roeper gave it a negative review, and there's more out there:

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who Movie Reviews, Pictures - Rotten Tomatoes

Chief among the complaints is the story from the book just isn't big enough to sustain a 90+ min movie, and so there's lots of "padding". The 82% rating is still excellent tho.

Just saw it today. My 2 year old was really enjoying it, but decided a nap during the last 30 minutes was the way to go.

Her mother and I (being a big boy and girl) enjoyed the whole thing. Really well done.

I'm probably gonna take my day camp kids to see this over spring break. I was watching the making of this movie OnDemand, and the process looked interesting.

I saw it today. The animation is fantastic. The story doesn't stray too far from the original book and tv cartoon special but definately adds to the story. But they did downplay the Wikezon Monkey brothers quite a bit and beefed up the Vulture role (who was actually pretty scary, I heard several children cry when he came on).

My biggest complaint is the tired "cliche" of having the voice over actors sing some ridiculous pop song (REO Speedwagon's - Can't Fight this Feeling). The song really has nothing to do with the movie, it's just there because I guess they always have to throw one of these songs in for this style of movie. In this case it really was a distraction for the movie.

"And I cant fight this feeling anymore
Ive forgotten what I started fighting for
Its time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars, forever"

Um yeah, it's the story of the survival of a small universe...

                      Grayhank,
The vulture part is the part that I'm thinking that my daughter wouldn't like. If you don't want to post any spoilers, you can PM, but I'd like to know what those scenes are before taking her in there. For example, the cheese puffs that came to life in the Veggie Tales Pirate Movie really freaked her out, but I had no idea that was going to happen going into the movie.
                      It's all good!

Not sure how to answer that one as the Vulture is there for a good portion of the movie, so PM sent.

Went to see 10,000 BC with the kids we all enjoyed it.
Saw the trailer for Horton, thought it looked funny. Probably take the kids to that as well, but I'll probably enjoy it more than them, think they enjoy the popcorn and sweets more than most of the movies.
