    Famous People You Have Met

What famous people have you met ?

In July 1972 Muhammad Ali fought Al 'Blue' Lewis in Dublin.
My Mum pushed me in my buggy to meet the champ.
I was a few months old but I had long blond hair...well Muhammad Ali tickles me under the chin and says to my Mum
"what a cute little girl" my Mums says it's a boy and Muhammad Ali says "well he's still pretty"

Well that was my 15 minutes.
Maybe one day I'll own the Ali Mego again.

I've "met" Adam West and Lynda Carter at the "world of Wheels" shows when I was a kid.
Through my licensing work I've met with (usually over the phone) Dusty Rogers, Pernell Roberts, Patrick Wayne, and a couple of members of the two seperate Michael Landon families (that was a real nightmare).

I have told this many times, so many of you are going to say, "Not again, Hector!", lol.

But this one is for the new posters...

Back in 1988, a year after Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered...the mother of all mother Star Trek conventions, was held at the Hilton in LAX Los Angeles. The entire crew of both the original series and TNG were there. It was Trekkie heaven, lol.

Ok, I saw all the actors in person, so no big deal, so did a couple of other thousands, lol.

However, I was standing in the back of the crowd with my buddy, when I noticed this really nice perfume smell.

I turned, and my gosh, there was this really sexy petite brunette standing next to me, it took me a few seconds and realized it was non other than Marina Sirtis aka Counselor Troi.

      I almost passed out, lol.

She noticed my shock and glee...I don't remember what exactly came out of my mouth (something like "you are gorgeous"), but whatever it was, she liked it a lot, she then hugged me and gave me a kiss on the cheek...WOW...I almost passed out for a second time, lol.

That was a very memorable moment for me, besides being gorgeous, she was so gracious, humble, and down to earth...it was a cherished moment for me. Predictably enough, she instantly became my favorite Star Trek actress ever, lol.

Too bad my bud and I didn't take a camera with us...I wish that moment had been taped somehow...sigh.

Hirohito, Emporer of Japan...got invited to a tea party at his palace when Dad was a diplomat in Tokyo. I bowed very low, and he bowed even lower which really blew me away.

Mother Teresa, she came to the International school I went to and I got to have a chat with her without another soul in sight. She is tiny.

Johnny Farnham (he kissed my cheek, awww shucks) and the Little River Band at their backstage party.

Cyndi Lauper held my hand, gazed into my eyes and sang a song to me :D

Marcel Marceau, though he didn't have much to say.

Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees.

President Bill Clinton - Was going to catch the ferry down at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco early one morning. As I was walking toward the wharf, up comes Bill Clinton (who had been jogging) followed by his entourage of secret service, reporters etc. Was able to walk right up to him shake his hand and get a picture.

Julie Newmar - met her one year at WonderCon when it was in Oakland.

Locally - I know Steve Sansweet (Star Wars Guru, Author and owner of Rancho-ObiWan) quite well. Run into him quite a bit here in town. Like many of the Star Wars collectors he can frequently be found waiting for Target to open. Got him to autograph my copy of his latest book The Star Wars Vault.

Met David Prowse (Darth Vader) in Church

Met Jack Lords in a Airport

Met George Takie, James Doohan, and Walter Koeneg in a convention. All three were great guys to meet.

Also met John de Lancie at a convention. He was the most arrogant person I've ever met.

Met Larry Linville (Frank Burns) at college, he was a great guy to talk to.

Had Al Gore walk past me in the mid 80s on his first presidential run.

Shared a plane ride to Atl with Ted Diabasi (Million Dollar man)

At various conventions Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch, Peter Mayhew, Billy Dee Williams, Warrick Davies and many minor Star Wars players.
When I used to work with Mediaband (photo shoots of Dr Who stars) we'd regularly go to conventions and have our stall next to the autographers and I spent many a conversation /shared ashtrays with Sylvester McCoy, Elisabeth Sladen, Tom Baker, Sophie Aldred, Nicola Bryant (she gripped my thigh/knee), Frazer hines, Katy Manning, Mary Tamm, Nicholas Courtney and Sarah sutton. One year we held a joint Who Blakes 7 convention in liverpool and for two days we had dinner with Paul Darrow, Frazer Hines, Nicholas Courtney, Micheal Keaton (Vila not Batman), Jaqualine Pierce, Sophie Aldred, Terrance Dicks, Sylvester McCoy and Mary Tam. I got to know Sophie Aldred well enough to have her home number and she's greet me with a hug.
Walter Koenig was a true gent also when I met him ...we taked about "Moon Trap" and the defunct plans for the sequal that never happened.
When I was a traffic warden (please don't hate me it was 20 years ago), I met John Cleese, Madonna, Paul Young, George Micheal, Mortan Harket (A-HA), Tony Adams and Paul Merson (Arsenal football) and various others...the best though was on a dreary wet day when walking up Picadilly I noticed a limo (this was 20 years ago so they were few and far between over here) and started talking to the driver....it was peeing down with rain and I got a tap on my shoulder ...I turned round and it was Charles Bronson...he asked if i'd like to get in the limo out of the rain and then he offered me a scotch from the decanter in the back...we talked for 15-20 mins until the rain stopped and i've got to say he was a true superstar.

She was also wearing a very hot black top that showed very nice cleavage, and a matching black skirt that hugged her hips ever so tightly, hubba, hubba, hubba, lol.

But it was her wonderful demeanor that blew me away, what a nice lady.
