Although this article is about New York City this could very well be any city or small town in the U.S. I could write all day about how this looks like my city nowdays! Although I understand times change but it bums me out when I go see the old movie theater's, stores, food stores..etc.. not there anymore.

One thing that's good is many dumpy hole-in-the-wall food places are gone.
Back in the day standards were a lot lower and food places were a lot dirtier
I don't miss them -

Even though I've seen some of my old neighborhood in NYC ( I used to live on 158th between Amsterdam and Broadway) through Google Earth, I have deliberately stayed away from it on my visits to NYC in the past 20 years.
