I'm surprised with all the 1966 Batman fans around here.....

....That no-one commented on the passing of Lorenzo Semple last week. He was the one responsible for developing the 66 series!

You guys are usually 'on your game', but I think someone was caught sleeping at the wheel here.

Honestly didn't know he was still alive. This might explain how all the new licensing was finally hammered out. http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/creator-of-tvs-batman-lorenzo-semple-jr-dies-at-91-1201149758/

He was also responsible for my favorite King Kong!

I meant to comment, but failed to at some point.

Semple also applied his singular wit to Wonder Woman and Flash Gordon, I believe.

I think for most people the fondness they have for Batman 1966 does not extend to Semple. Primarily because he was a behind-the-scenes guy whereas the actors take center-stage.

Semple also made some disparaging comments about comic book readers and comic books in general an old Starlog interview, (he also admitted that Flash Gordon 1980 was based on his 1st draft script. Not his fault tho. DeLaurentis would not wait for a re-write). His attitude made little sense as it came not too long after the success of Superman The Movie which didn't try to make Superman comical but dramatic and serious. I kind'a think if you have that attitude towards the people who make you successful and buy your product you are being dishonest with them.
