I think they mean if the heart were literally like dogs. Little furry creatures that lived inside your chest and chased balls and scratched at the door to go outside.

Mine would have to be hairless. I dont want to be coughing up fur every ten minutes. That's the way it would be if my "heart-dog" sheds as much as my real dog.

I'm allergic, so I'd hate to see what horrible fate I'd be experiencing if I had an actual dog for a heart!
