Rats! The only pic that shows up for me in that article is the first one. But he's holding a Tangy Taffy wrapper, and I used to stop at the candy store on my way home from school and buy some Tangy Taffy fof a dime so I could eat it while watching cartoons."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true." -
Marathon bars were one of my childhood favorites. Curly Wurly is pretty much the same thing, and you can get them at places that carry British candies.Comment

Even so, I've got a couple thousand more candy packaging pieces in my online archive if you're into that kind of stuff.
In addition to the 3,000+ vintage and contemporary candy packaging images I've got at Flickr, there are likely another 1,500 or so that you won't find there, or anywhere else for that matter - within the 470 posts at CollectingCandy.comLast edited by JasonLiebig; Apr 5, '14, 3:27 PM.Pop-culture confectionery historian and creator of CollectingCandy.comComment

The 1970's Marathon bar is my all-time favorite chocolate bar and I've devoted a number of columns to it, including a three-part series last year.
Maximum Marathon Part 1: The Wrappers!
Part two was dedicated to the Marathon John commercials:
Maximum Marathon Part 2: The Commercials! Plus a World Premiere Video!
I own some of the original prop bars from those 1970's commercials and created a "retromercial" in honor of it, which I covered in part 3 here:
Maximum Marathon Part 3: Original 1970's TV Prop Marathon Bars Discovered!
And finally, earlier this year, CollectingCandy celebrated its two-year anniversary and 450th posted article.. as part of that week-long celebration, I shared a Marathon John commercial that had previously never been found or shown online:
A Trio of Classic 1970's Candy Commercials not seen in 35 Years!

I occasionally delve into specific brands and cover their historical packaging and marketing in depth. So you can see an evolution of 40+ packages for things like Whoppers, Milk Duds, Hot Tamales, and more. I've also got some fun timelines on Fun Dip and Razzles. Images of hundreds of things you won't see anywhere else.Last edited by JasonLiebig; Apr 5, '14, 3:18 PM.Pop-culture confectionery historian and creator of CollectingCandy.comComment
