You just don't see good service like this anymore...

    Hi guys,

So last night, I go into the living room to watch McMillan and Wife on Cozi-TV, and I get sound w/ no picture! As most of you know, I am anti-flatscreen TV, and the TV in the living was my mom's, and it's close to 20 years old. It's a good TV and I didn't wanna scrap it. This morning I called the shop I usually deal with and they're closed down. So I get online and see reviews on Yelp for a shop in my area called Alpha. I see older TVs in the picture. They have great reviews, so I call and ask if they fix older TVs. Yes? Great! I don't have a car, can you come pick it up? Yes? Wonderful! So the guy comes over and I show him what's wrong. He thinks it's the tuner. He takes it apart and confirms this. I ask him when can I have my set back, and he says he has the part in his truck and can fix it right then! Really? So 15 minutes later, my set is fixed, the guy charges me for parts and labor, but no trip charge! YAY! I don't have to be w/o my TV, and I got fast, friendly service, in my house! I'm giving these guys all my business!

Isn't it nice to still find that kind of service in this day and age?

Yes it is since you do not get service like that much nowadays-- even better that you found a shop that will still repair older analog sets (which I am still on and prefer to be on)--Cheers

That's pretty awesome to hear--a business like that deserves a shout-out. I didn't even know people still repaired TVs.

Wow. Fixing the old sets is becoming a lost art, glad you found someone close. Keep his number in case your rotary dial candle stick phone goes on the fritz:-)

That is Awesome!I dont think the "service" is gone,it still exists. You just have to find the right "old school" company and sites like Angies List,Yelp, etc really help.
New school will bring you to old school these days when dealing with a problem like you had.Its not a lost art "service",many newer companies offer services you would not have found 20-30 years ago.I just made an appointment to have the winshield in my truck replaced, this place comes to your house or even does it in the parking lot of your work. There's also places like this that will come to your location and do oil changes, etc.
I think places like this are the future and will thrive.
As far as old TV sets,i love them.I still have my Mom's old Magnovox that is going on 35 years old.It will not die, still works great.I'm not anti - flat screen,my son has one,but TVs made these days are basically "disposable".They will work for a year or two or five, then they go out and its cheaper just to buy another one.
The saying"they dont make them like they used to is true". I'll stick with the "old" as long as i can.
