    Computer help - Transferring bookmarks

I'm getting a new computer tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out how to transfer my bookmarks from the old one to the new. Is there a way to cut and paste them? Or am I stuck going to each one, cut-and-pasting the link and emailing it to myself?
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?

Also, my old computer uses 3x5 floppy discs, and has no cd burner. Is there an easier way to save my pics than sending them to myself individually or saving each one to Photobucket? My discs don't really hold enough space to make saving them there worthwhile. I also won't be able to get a flash drive soon enough.

I assume you mean internet favorites.
      If your using microsoft explorer
My computer - Local Disk C: - Documents and settings - (your folder) - Favorites
Copy the folder and past it in the same place on the new computer.
All your other personal stuff is in here as well if you want copy any thing else.

Get a usb memory stick copy things to the stick Thats the easyest way.
If you don't have a stick but you have a digital camera lots of time you can use the memory in the camera to copy things to and than bring them to the new machine.

Internet Explorer has a simple, built-in Import/Export for your Internet Favorites. Pretty easy to find....open IE, goto File->Import/Export Wizard. I am assuming if the pc doesn't have a cd burner...it is Win95 or Win98ish?? If it's Win98 or higher, you could install a USB thumbdrive to shuttle files. If that doesn't work, get your new pc, a crossover cable and connect both pcs via their NIC card and move em that way.

Go to the above folder (Favorites) right click on the folder --> Send to --> Compressed (Zip) folder.

Then email the compressed zip folder to yourself as an attachment. When you get your new PC, unattach the zip file from the email and extract it to

My computer - Local Disk C: - Documents and settings - (your folder) - Favorites

This will work for small files not for images / songs or bigger files since a lot of email providers limit the attachment size.

          good luck,
          Maureen

Save the "favourites" file to disk. When you get the new computer open the Favourites folder on the new computer and drag and drop the faves from the disk to it.

            No.

I was going to recommend purchasing an inexpensive external harddrive and transferring everything from your old computer to it.

After going through the painful experience of having a hard drive totally blow up on me, it is nice to have a secondary drive to back up documents in case one of the drives goes bad.

                If your using Firefox.

                click bookmarks, then click organize

A new window will pop up with all your bookmarks.

From that pop up click file then export. It will save your bookmarks as bookmarks.htm.

On your new pc copy the bookmarks.htm file to your hard drive.

On your new firefox choose bookmarks, organize bookmarks. This will open a new pop up window.

From the pop up widows choose file then import, select your bookmark file.

Your bookmarks are now ready to go.
