The Police's "Every Breath You Take" and Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" were some of the first videos that didn't seem horribly cheesy (well, except for Thriller). Maybe it was the black and white?

MTV played a metric ton of Huey Lewis and the News, and then dissed him later as being lame. Pot calling the kettle black, much?
