    ebay "strike" question

I bought an item on ebay. I was hesitant as the item was in the ukraine, but after some thought I went for it. I get my invoice, and I can't paypal, but have to send a MO to toronto (?) I do just that. 3 weeks pass and I get an unpaid item dispute message. I tell the guy i have sent my payment, he says "ok thanks" and 24 hrs later I get a "strike" against me for non payment!
First off, after "losing" $141 dollars in the mail I am not too keen on sending out ANOTHER $141 to the sketchy canadian mail drop for a sketchy ukranian seller. It seems to me an easy way to double your money. My question is this: what the hell is a "strike" and should I care? I always pay for my stuff on ebay as quickly as possible with paypal, and frankly this deal has soured me on ever sending out a MO again.

For me if they don't take PayPal I don't buy.
It just makes everyone second guess one another.

A Money Order to Canada for an eBay item in the Ukraine? And you didn't feel suspicious about any of this until now? Yikes. That is a leap of faith I'd be hard pressed to take.

As far as the strike, it's posted everywhere! Sellers are tired of getting beat up and discarded by ebay. Check out some of their boards for some interesting comments.

I think the "strike" he's talking about is not the same as the "boycott ebay strike" from several weeks ago, I believe that it's the same as when as a seller if you get 3 "strikes" (buyers complaining of not recieving their merch.) then your account is suspended and you must comunicate with e-bay as to what is going on. As far as i know sellers can only have 3 people at once complaining of not receiving their items. Maybe buyers can only have 3 strikes for non-payment before e-bay suspends their accounts? I'm not positive but I think that's how it works.

I have an address in Massachusetts you can send all the money orders for the rest of your ebay purchases to. Trust me. I've never lied to you before have I? At least I don't think I have??

yep, it stinks to high heaven. you got robbed . i am actually surprised he gave you a strike becasue a scammer doesn't care if you get suspended. if he isn't a scammer, he is an idiot. you were still communicating with him about payment so he should not have filed.

yes - a strike is for nonpayment - 3 and you are suspended from ebay. if you are fairly new to ebay it really doesn't matter. open a new account. you'll need to use a different email.

the nonpayment dispute should be in your My Messages box in you My ebay summary page. you need to respond to it. give all the info you have. if you have the reciept for the m.o. date and point of mailing, dates of communication with seller (copy emails if possible). if you don't respond you will be given the strike. if you plead your case you MIGHT not get the strike.

You should report him to eBay for not sending an item that was paid for.

always use My Messages to communicate with people on eBay - that way ebay has a record
