I finally saw the movie last weekend. I took my 5 nieces who range from 7 - 11. Everyone had a blast.

It's so funny, weird and engaging - I really loved it. Plus, it's got a moral that's actually important and relevant. Visually it's mind blowing - as you might expect.

It has got some scary moments. The 7 year-old held on to me a few times, but ended up loving it. The bad guy is pretty gruesome - but my guess is that it's less scary than "ParaNorman". Probably all depends on the kid, ultimately.

Coraline was way better. This one was just weird and the character designs, especially the villain, was off-putting to say the least. Without giving anything away, the ending felt rushed, there's little redemption for the adults, and the bad guys plan/big reveal really didn't make any sense by the end of the film since he had come pretty close to accomplishing his goal with out it.
