Anyone who knows me knows I Saturday morning cartoons and live action from Krofft and Filmation. I love them so much, that I still watch my Saturday morning cartoons today, (and only on Saturday monrings!) Now since I'm a 70s kid, my choices of viewing are gonna be different from those of the person who made that video. My favorites are too long to list, but I had to watch some Krofft shows, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny, Superfriends and the list goes on. But it wasn't just the cartoons that made Saturday mornings special. It was the rituals; how early to get up, where to watch, what cereal to eat, what network had the best shows, even what prizes were in the cereal box. And it was also the commercials. Usually, more food commercials were shown on Saturday mornings; cereal, Pop Tarts, Tang, soda, candy bars, Chef Boyardee. And then there were the PSAs like Schoolhouse Rock, and Time For Timer, and later on The Dough Nuts and Dr. Henry's Emergency Lessons for People (HELP). And in my house, even ending w/ American Bandstand and/or Soul Train. But of course, the anticipation of all of this was the most special thing of all. Saturday morning was to me the most magical time of the week; the time when all this wonderful stuff happened!

My best cartoon watching period on network Saturdays was probably from '77-85. From age 4-12. After that I was more interested in the weekday afternoon stuff on WTBS (which ironically was older cartoons) along with Transformers, Gi Joe, Thundercats, and (the biggest one of all for me) Masters of the Universe.

My Saturdays included: The New Adventures of Batman, Laff-a-lympics, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show, Plasticman, Flintstones Comedy hour, Blackstar, Thundarr, Drak Pak, Captain Caveman and the two biggest: Superfriends and endless hours of the Smurfs. I know I'm missing a bunch that I'm just not thinking of at the moment.....like Godzilla and The Flintstones meet the Thing.

I enjoyed sitting on the hardwood floor with a bowl of cereal. I knew after American Bandstand the fun was over though because it was time for sports :( Even now watching toons on dvd isnt as fun because apart of the experience were the commercials and educational ads.

Well, that's what YouTube is for! When I have my Saturday morning cartoons, I sprinkle in some 70s commercials, Time For Timer and Schoolhouse Rock in between my shows.

I was so nostalgic I made a DVD that included the bumpers from Saturday morning and vintage commercials. I got the bumpers and commercials from YouTube and scattered them in the cartoons; like smurfs, captain caveman, Mighty Mouse, super friends and others. My family and I had a ball.
