    What Can I Do

I need some advice about a Mego that I am in the middle of trying to buy. The seller wanted 40 US dollars which I sent him in the form of a US money order. When I told the seller that the money order was on the way he said that he wanted to send the money order back and have me send him cash instead. I have tried now repeatedly for over a week to contact the seller as I am willing to just mail him an extra 10 dollars US. I no longer have his mailing info and have had no responses either in here or via E mail. This seller is very well known at the museum so I want to give him every chance to make this right. Any advice on how this should be handled would be greatly appreciated.

you should be able to file a claim thru the money order company. Never send cash.

Well for whatever reason the seller doesn't want a money order.Maybe some miscommunication and he was expecting cash. When you said a money order was on the way,he replied back saying he wanted cash and would send the money order back.

So when he sends the money order back,if you trust the seller, send him 40.00 cash.If not then find someone else to buy off that will take a money order.

Well known member or not, never send cash. If someone can't take a money order, then something is wrong and I wouldn't do the transaction.

I have accepted money orders from you numerous times no prob...and you also sent me cash once which I do not recommend.
Are you saying you don't have the sellers address anymore?
Allow enough time to hear back from seller and as tempting as it is, do not reveal the member on the boards, as it is not worth it. Keep in contact with member thru pms and give it minimum 90 days before drastic measures.
Did you save the money order receipt? If so, cancel it if you can and cancel entire transaction. Do not send cash.

Good news to report, the seller was simply away and that is why I could not reach him. I have bought from him before so everything is cool. I am so glad I did not reveal his name. Patience has never been a strong point of mine but I am glad I waited in this case.

I once sold an item to someone in Canada! they paid me by Money order, but for some reason, my bank wanted to charge me $10, just to cash the money order! Sad thing was, the money order was only for $10. so that was a wash, I didn't even bother cashing it! Hopefully the rules have changed and there's no longer such a charge for cashing a MO here in the states from another country! Happy things worked out for you!

I had this happen as well. I cant remember if it was a money order I sent or one I received but there was a charge for cashing the money order.
