    Vintage toy stores in Japan

I'm looking for the names and addresses of vintage toy stores near Tokyo. There was a thread about this a long while back but I can't find it. A good friend of mine just got there for a 3 year tour of service. He's into vintage vinyl and toys. He's found a few vintage record shops but no toys. Any help would be appreciated.

The Mandarake chain of stores have tons of vintage available, but it tends to be a bit on the pricey side. The closest ones in the Tokyo area are in Shibuya (close to Shibuya train station) and Akihabara. Their website has maps and addresses: http://www.mandarake.co.jp/en/shop/ There are a couple other nice vintage stores in Akihabara, I'll see if I can dig up some info. Their flagship store in Nakano is a bit further away but still fairly close to Tokyo and is highly recommended. It's in the Broadway Mall and along with a bunch of Mandarake stores, there are other toy shops in there too. There are a couple other good places, I'm drawing a blank on names at the moment but I'll try to get some more info on them.

Hmmm, not sure if I've been there or not, I think it looks familiar. Do you know if it's on the main road in Akiba, Ed? If so, I've probably been there. If it's on one of the many side roads, it's possible I may have missed it.

            HEY...I know that place!!!

Another store in Akihabara is the Mandrake (sp?)...I believe.

There used to be a Vintage Toy Store at the end of a row of Record Stores near HMV at the Tokyo Station, I think. I had spotted those Bullmark Boxed POTA Figures there and called Berto about them but they were EXTREMELY expensive when you did the conversion. I went back there a few years later and they were gone. It MAY have been a place called Gojira-ya...not 100% sure though.

Atmosphere in Tokyo for vintage books, records, & toys has changed dramatically since the 80's where you could find gems without breaking the bank...there really wasn't a collector's market in japan back then...folks did not hold on to things due to limited living space.
Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!

Toys GoldenAge used to have a large statue of Great Mazinger in front, didn't they? Within the last 5 years? They sometimes have auctions on Ebay. I try to go there when in Japan. The place is small and jam packed with stuff. Tough to maneuver or let people go behind you in the store. They had an excellent Microman, and Henshin Cyborg cabinet when last I was there. I seem to recall most vintage being quite expensive.
