    Leonard Nimoy health news

I didnt hear about this until yesterday. Thought I would post.

The man who dared to boldly go where no one had gone before has revealed that he can’t go as many places as he used to.

Nimoy announced last week that he has been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease -- 30 years after having given up cigarettes
    .

But Nimoy's illness has not interfered with his goal of living long and prospering. In 2010, life expectancy at birth for someone born in the United States reached 78.7, and Nimoy, who is 82, appears to be continuing to prosper, too. "Just taped my comments for Star Trek Fest to be aired on EPIX Feb. 16th," he wrote. "Still enjoying my life. LLAP."

Yeah, there was either a UK or tabloid report that he was in a wheelchair.

I've always felt that the day Nimoy, Shatner Eastwood and Connery pass would be the closing eras for film and TV, but they've all done the right thing and retired for the most part. Save Bill, naturally.

^For me it's Shatner, Nimoy, Adam West, Lee Majors, and Stan Lee. Once they're all gone the world will be a darker place.

I am sure Nimoy has had this for some time and the revelation came from the pictures of him in the wheelchair. He did a graduation speech a year or so ago and told the kids don't start smoking or you'll get "beat up lungs like mine".

For me, it's Shatner, Nimoy, Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Majors, Lindsay Wagner, Carol Burnett, Dick Van Dike (spelled wrong on purpose), Lynda Carter and Bill Mumy. It was really some sad days for me when Michael Jackson and Evel Knievel died too. All of our icons and heroes are dying. Thank God they'll live on through TV, so we can show the next generation how cool they were.

I don't get attached with celebrities...only my immediate family members.

That doesn't mean I'm cold and don't care...I hope Nimoy lives another 20 years.

according to Futurama, Nimoy will live on as a head in a jar.
