    E-cigarettes

Anyone use these? Opinions or favorite brands? Does it successfully curtail your urge for a regular cig?

My 75yo mom is a heavy smoker. My family has gently encouraged her to quit for many years, even as she battled cancer and her teeth all rotted out, despite having excellent dental hygiene otherwise. If anything, she only gets worse and worse. She'd sooner cut off her arm than quit smoking I think.

But she has expressed a willingness trying e-cigs as a substitute. I know they're not regulated, but it's potentially worth a try to us. Thanks..

I use them. There are so many brands now it's best to buy a couple different ones (the disposable kind) and have her try them out. I tried Blu and hated it. Then my friend told me about GreenSmartLiving, a rechargeable kind, that is really good as far as flavor and price go. They are kind of big, and that does take some getting used to. Right now I'm trying a disposable one that looks and feels more like a real cigarette than most others. It's called Njoy, and it is about the same size and weight as a real cigarette, which is nice, but the flavor's a bit skunky. I think I'm going to try one more disposable brand and if I don't like it I'll go back to the rechargeable brand I like.

They do take some getting used to, but the really cool thing is that I can sit in my house and smoke, or in the car without even rolling down the window. And for the most part, they are cheaper than real cigs.

My wife uses them and has been off real cigarettes since last New Years (go wifey!). She used the Blu and they were ok but hard to keep a charge, she would have to keep one charging while using one. Lately I convinced her to go to the local vaping store where she got one of those kind with the larger batteries, it also holds the liguid nicotine and she likes it much better. The cost is much lowere and you never get a dud filter (that was a regular problem with the Blu). There was more of a learning curve having to change the wick but now she really likes it. Quite a strange crowd at the vape store though, but they're always super nice and incredibly focused. Strangely mellowed and focused. The bottom line is they got her off cigarettes and her health is better ans she feels better and our house smells better. She didn't get bronchitis or pneumonia this year either and that had become a yearly problem for her.
