Less than 100k can attend, but millions watch. I don't want to see some weather related fiasco. The NFL swings a little more WWE every year. -
If it snows like it did here two days ago, they won't be able to play the game at all. There'd be tons of legal problems too with all the corporate parties, TV events, and appearances. Not to mention all the bar and restaurants across the country that plan around this, people that have already taken off of work the next day, and all the house parties people have lined up. The NFL would be screwing the nation by moving the game. It's already a logistics nightmare that the stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey which is still a 20 minute drive to NY with zero traffic. Thats just to get in to the city. It's another 20 minutes to Times Square on a good day. Distance wise, it's close but I wouldn't want to walk it. Time wise, New York City may as well be on the moon from Giant Stadium on some days. They're holding all the events in NYC which is in the midst of a deep freeze right now. The Meadowlands is a ghost town until the day of the game. There's no fanjets this year and most of the events that accompany the Super Bowl are scattered all over the city. There's also very little interest in the game itself as far as match ups are concerned. I mean it's still the Superbowl but it doesn't have that "gotta see it" feel that they were hoping for. Right now the bigger story is the stadium it's being played in rather than the teams playing in the stadium. The whole things already a mess for the NFL, they really underestimated the logistics of everything. If they move the game it could have serious ramifications on the stability of the league almost on par with the 94 baseball strike or that stupid All-Star game tie they still haven't gotten over from a few years ago. Meanwhile the Devils and Rangers are playing in Yankee Stadium this Sunday. It's supposed to be 12 degrees at puck drop. It's like sports forgot what Winter is like around here."Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment
