Festival For Beatles Fans/Beatlefest in NY...

I thought comic con ticket prices were getting crazy...This years Beatlefest is being held in NYC. 50th anniversary of the Beatles playing Sullivan. It's being held on the weekend 50 years to the day, Feb 7 - 9, and the hype and greed have taken over. Tickets to walk through the door are $79 for Saturday and $79 for Sunday...and that's if you order rickets by this Friday...after that you can only buy tickets at the door. I've been to 4 Beatlefests in the past...but never paid $79 for a Weekend Pass. I wanted to go this year, especially for the fact that it was being held in NYC, but I refuse to be extorted in to paying $79 to walk through the door. That's outrageous. It's one of the main factors for my not going to the Javitz shows for the comic con. If Carbonaro can put on a comic show at the Hotel Pennsylvania and still charge ONLY $15 to get in then why can't other shows do the same. Big difference between $15 and $79. Guests at shows these days really don't do anything for me. I've met all of my heroes that are still alive. Beatlefest can't even give you any good ones this year. Donovan comes about as close to a "star" on the list of guests. Although, I really would love to meet Bob Gruen. He is the photographer that took the infamous Lennon shots with the NY T-shirt. He's an amazing photographer. Much as I'd like to meet him...$79 is just absurd. Sorry for the Rant....but these cons are getting way too big for their britches.

There's no way in hell I'd pay 80 bucks, unless Paul and Ringo are gonna show up......

Those are my sentiments exactly....and I've been to about 4 of them in the past. For the most part I enjoyed the experiences. It's just gotten out of hand though with pricing for this show and a lot of the Comic Shows these days.

Totally agree. I'd pay that to see Paul and Ringo, but for what this is going to be? Waaaay overpriced!

I love it! This is proof positive that ELVIS was WAY more popular and beloved than the Beatles. I pay $169 for a weekend pass to the Elvis Fest we attend every year. And I think it is worth every darn penny. I'd pay $200 if they asked. And last year we bought 10 tickets for the group of us that go. We will probably have to buy 20 tickets this year as every time we show the videos of the weekend to friends and relatives our group grows larger. And that's only one Elvis Fest. The management company that puts these on has 5 of them throughout the year and they sell out each and every one of them. I have no doubt that the other Elvis Fests put on by other groups have no problem selling tickets to their shows. Anyway, no need to ramble on, you get the point.

I don't know that I would go that far. Elvis fans are different. not saying that in a bad way. they just tend to be a little more devout about such things as conventions, Graceland, Elvis's grave, etc. I think the fact that Paul and Ringo are still out there touring and recording new music also has a part to play in that difference. why shell out $160.00 for a convention when you can spend that, or more, to see the actual performer? in ringo's case that price would get you really good seats too

I'm a die hard Elvis fan too and there's no waaaaaaay in hell I'm gonna shell out 169 bucks to see an Elvis tribute artists. Go to Graceland, Yes. but sorry that would cost me an arm and a leg for my whole family. I'd rather shell out good money to see Paul again, Ringo not so much....lol But I'm not knocking anyone who wants to spend that kind of money to have a good weekend for themselves.

                Steve.
