I'm very sorry about the news. I have also lost a lot of family members over the years (my parents were the youngest in their families) and I was born when my parents were a bit older (my dad was in his early 40's and my mom was in her late 30's which wasn't that common back then even though they were married when she was 17 and he was 24).
I can only remember one grandfather since the rest of them had already died by the time I was born and he died when I was in the 3rd grade 1976 (he was already in his late 70's even then). Since then, I have lost many aunts and uncles and my father died about 12 years ago (I can't believe it has been that long).
There still isn't a day that doesn't go by and I think about him in some way. I think as others have mentioned, the pain and grief will subside after a while but you will always remember the warmth and love for the rest of your life.
It is the best legacy you can pass along and the best measure of a person's life.
You and your family will be in my prayers."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
