          I'm going to be 32. I may not be that old, but I'm old enough to remember a time when being a "nerd" or into "nerd culture" wasn't cool, even in the ironic hipster way. It's all about identity today.

          I'm not sure if this thread is about that though. What is the overall argument? That the younger generation cannot appreciate anything that isn't ultra detailed, realistic, etc.?

          It's not just them. I had people older than me telling me I had to stop with the 8/16-bit games and get an Xbox 360, because the graphics are "mind blowing". As if that somehow made them fun. There are a lot of visually stunning films today, but all the CGI and I-Max crap isn't going to made it good or give it substance.
