Displaying a collection is a lot of work!

I had no idea it was going to take so long getting all my stuff put out on display. I'm finding a lot of times my initial displays just don't look right to me and I end up having to go back and rearrange, move stuff around, adjust and re-adjust shelves.
I'm trying to find just the right balance of size, shape and colors...mixing some vintage and some new...mixing loose with boxed or carded.
Keeping everything visible without looking too cluttered yet trying to get the most out of every shelf. It is not easy.

It's turning out to be a much bigger project than I thought!

Wait until you dust or get a new piece.

^I've got dusting down to a science. Every other day I hit everything with a shot of canned air. Takes like ten minutes and you never have to do any other dusting. Works great. Also, a small air cleaner in the room works wonders.

Yep! Or wait when you want to remodel your room. It's been nearly two years since I got started. Now I'm having to decide what I want to keep and sell off. Ah, the life of a collector.

Half of it is having the right display case. I find I don't devote enough dollars to the display furniture, so the collectibles aren't always displayed optimally.

LOL I feel your Pain!!! When I finally got what I thought was sufficant enough display pieces I re arranged a few times and still need to because I have added pieces and I have stuff that still isn't out... I have finally thrown up my hands and am having my handyman build a Custom wall display to optimize the space. Good luck and be paitent. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Oh yea keep us updated... prefferably with photos!!!

It's a lot of work but it's fun work IMO. But when you are just about out of room and you get a new larger piece, you can break your brain trying to figure out how to rearrange everything to make it fit. Already happened to me a couple times. I gotta stop collecting big toys.

I was moving stuff around last night, adding the Christmas Megos I'd received, and it's sort of a form of "play". Half the fun of owning a collection is rotating pieces and finding fun ways to display them.

On the plus side, you've got s decent amount of space at least. I'm struggling to figure out how to fit everything into the space I have, because there is no option to expand. Already have enough stuff (non-Megos) in boxes too so no option to pack stuff up either.

One of the things I'm making sure to do is leave empty space in each section for new arrivals...I have spots picked out for stuff I don't even have yet. LOL

Right display case and the right lighting for the area are super important (imho). Also things like right paint colour for the room and using stuff like black-out curtains help too.

I just did the same thing pretty much, have some "filler" where some items I haven't aquired quite yet will go. Better to have the space for when you get them than get them and have to do the toy shuffle.
