The episode with Cliff Robertson as the ventrilliquist has always stuck in my head. Scared the crap out of me as a kid...and was made worse by the movie "Magic".
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Monsters Are Due On Maple Street is the single greatest essay on "group think".

So many great stories to pick from, but I'd go for "Time Enough at Last" with Burgess Meredith.
I have a feeling that this would happen to me in case of WWIII...

          1. Time Enough At Last

This resonated with me as a kid, since I loved reading, and my favorite memories growing up where spending the summer break in the library reading through sections at a time and wondering if I could ever read EVERY book there. The idea of having the time to do so only to be ripped off by breaking glasses, just broke my heart.

          2 Eye of the Beholder

This taught me to pay attention. Not once did I notice that the medical staff were not seen directly, until the end. Now I pay attention to all the details.

          3. Nightmare at 20K Feet

This is made me feel better as a kid, to know that it isn't the fact that you're kid that makes adults blow you off when you tell them fantastical stories of monsters in your closet, or out on the wing. It's the fact that adults at some point lose their imagination. I promised myself to never do so when I grew up. This is why I believe in ghosts, bigfoot, UFOs and the lochness monster.
