CAM00011.jpgI recently got a Tonner Tiny Betsy McCall doll.
She's Mego height, built on a slender body, with curly black hair and brown eyes. I got the AA version, and I got her naked.
Now, my sister is a doll Nazi. She HATES to see nekkid dollies, and insists on them being dressed.
And I had squat to dress her in.
It occurred to me that she is around the same height as Dinah, and might be able to fit into some of her clothes.
So, I popped a pair of CTVT female tights on her. The fit is good except for the baggy waist, but it's like that on all of the female dolls, so I didn't mind too much.
Then I popped on a pair of vintage black Walton tights; they fit better than the first pair! The fabric was still stretchy, and they stay up well.
I managed to shimmy her into a Ma Walton dress that I picked up on ebay, and after a little bit of futzing, I managed to close the snap. It's a tight fit, and the skirt is a bit too long, but it fits her.
For shoes, I knew that there was no WAY any of Dinah's boots, or shoes would fit. Her foot isn't as long but it's a smidge wider, and to force it into one of Dinah's shoes would only ruin the shoe. I learned THAT lesson the hard way with a Breyer doll!
So, I went through my stuff, and found a pair of obitsu black loafers. They are of squishy rubber, and with a little doing, I managed to get them onto the doll.
She's not all that articulated; only her knees bend, and her arms only move at the shoulder and her feet don't flex, but other than that, she seems to be pretty sturdy.
This outfit is temporary, as I am getting a sewing pattern for this type of doll sometime in the next week or so.
I guess this means I will actually have to do some sewing for her....maybe I can alter the patterns enough so that they fit Dinah and the other girls. Even with the difference in the bust size, it isn't too bad of a fit, either.
Even though the doll isn't being made anymore, she is still pretty cute. Once I get the patterns, and figure out how to upload pictures I'll put them up here.
