It doesn't surprise me that certain bands from certain genres, like genesis (prog-rock), Journey and REO Speedwagon (AOR rock), and Kiss and Alice Cooper (shock rock) keep getting ignored. Those genres are generally regarded as being fairly "unhip" by the industry insiders who are part of the voting committee. Regardless of the fact that those aforementioned bands and their respective genres have millions of fans worldwide, and have sold tons of albums and plenty of airplay. These people in charge of the RnRHoF are the same kind of people who created the top 100 best guitarists list for Rolling Stone, and put Kurt Cobain and Jack White of the White Stripes in the top 20, but put Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour way towards the bottom, and left off influential and innovative guitarists like Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Neal Schon, Randy Rhoads, etc. Plus, they know that people will pay the big bucks to come see names like Madonna and Grandmaster Flash get inducted, but turn their snobby noses up at KISS and Journey. The music biz kinda stinks, trust me

Still though, glad for DC5 finally getting their due, I love alot of their tunes.

I've been to the Hall twice and enjoyed it very much, as a museum. As far as who gets in and who does not, I stopped caring years ago.
The people who elect the nominees are the same people who claim that the Velvet Underground influenced as many R&R musicians as the Beatles did. Sure, just like Ed Kranepool influenced as many baseball players as Babe Ruth.

They seem to shy away from the more pop acts. Madonna was too big to pass up. Also, they just don;t vote for the acts that critics don't like, KISS and Bon Jovi. For example, look how long Black Sabbath took to get in. Critics never liked Sabbath. To me, that remains the single most ridiculous snub.

By the way, if they can induct Grand Master Flash, a rapper, into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, everyone else is fair game.

Also, almost all of the big Mowtown acts and many of the non-Mowtown soul/r&b acts have been inducted. Their music is, very often, is much closer to being Pop than it is to being Rock 'n' Roll. So, the idea that they snub "pop" stars doesn't ring true.

Obviously the RRHOF is a special club---it represents what it represents---
and, you know, I just roll with it

I think it does more good than bad---as it brings attention to musicians.... period.

Also, for me, the fact that VAN HALEN got in was good enough to satisfy me
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

The one thing I don't like about the RRHOF is it presents itself as being THE PUBLIC when in reality it's a private company with a few voters.

              I could make a WGSH's hall of fame .........
And only my vote counts who's the best ......

If you don't like it, tough cookies ......
              Because I own it .......

              It's like that.

That's why Johnny Rotten called them a pisz stain.
