Just went 26 hours with no power and roads that kept us from going anywhere. Kinda sucks with a 14 month old. Worst part was lack of coffee in the morning. Going to go get a Coleman stove tomorrow.

Wow!,freezing rain and ice is the worst.I've been dealing with some light freezing rain and ice here the past few days, then 4 inches of snow dumped on top of that last night, but nothing like that.

In 1991, we had a heck of an Ice Storm which knocked power out for at least a week for us.

We had a bad one here in 2008 that brought down my neighbors tree in my yard.

Just the opposite here - my front porch was in the mid-60s last night, but after two solid days of rain we had flooding everywhere. It just feels wrong to be in central Ohio and have these kinds of temps right before Christmas. It's completely thrown off my mojo. My nephews were playing basketball in shorts outside. Just weird.

I hope you great white northerners get some relief soon.

Ice storms are THE worst. The power outages, the horrible driving conditions (4X drive don't mean crap on ice). Hang in there!

Horrible timing right before Christmas to lose power. Nothing worse than ice storms.

On Saturday I said to myself "Enh, I'll get the propane tomorrow". Power went out at 5am.

This is my current view, my neighbourhood is basically undrivable.

We got out lucky, I've seen some smooshed houses locally.

Ugh, that's the worst. I can almost feel the damp nastiness in the air through the picture.

Man, these insane weather patterns couldn't have been timed any worse this year. I guess I should be glad that we only got torrential rains here in the Midwest.

The ice storm mostly missed us, but lots of rain and melting snow caused a lot of flooding locally. My sister's family ended up with a couple feet of water in the basement of the house they've just about finished building. And unfortunately they had tons of stuff stored in the basement waiting to be unpacked. Ugh, what a mess! Luckily the insurance company is coming through for them, but they've lost a crapload of stuff. I've heard stories of a lot more flooded basements in the neighborhood too. Our power went off for a couple hours in the middle of the night, but luckily we have a backup sump pump that runs on water pressure, not electricity, otherwise we would have been in trouble too.

                          Stay safe everyone!

I would much rather have snow than ice. Stay safe and warm everyone.
