Rankin/Bass Christmas schedules

ABC Family is airing many of the Rankin Bass Christmas Specials starting at 5 am eastern/6 am central Saturday morning. Set those DVRs.

Life and Adventures of Santa Claus is one of them, which is a pretty cool version of Santa's origin by F L Baum creator of the Wizard of Oz.

^I think that may be the only one I don't have on DVD. As a kid I considered it heresy since it didn't jibe with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". "Life and Times" was like a post-Crisis version or something.

I started reading life and times aloud to the wife and little girl at bedtime and it's definitely it's own animal. Very fantastical. I remember kinda liking the life and adventures of Santa Claus as a kid but back then we only had about four channels and anything was better than nothing. I watched some of the rankin bass version the other day and man it's weird.

I have a lot of them already, but still enjoy watching them in "real time".

If only they would get the idea of showing retro Christmas commercials it would be complete. For me thats a big part of those specials.
