They just put a Tim Hortons in our town a few months ago. It is the first donut chain in this area. My sister and I went a couple weeks ago to try it out. I cannot say we were overly impressed; twice the price of bakery donuts and half the taste.sigpicComment

What used to be made fresh at each location is now shipped frozen and "proofed" on location (whatever that means).
Most Canadians that I know go there for the coffee, occasionally a bagel with cream cheese or the pretty decent sandwiches and lunch fare that offers a nice alternative to burgers. Few go there for the donuts . . .

Yeah, when I worked there, our location made fresh donuts and cakes daily. There's nothing like eating a freshly made warm donut, fresh out of the deep fryer. I don't drink coffee, but once in awhile I'll stop and get a egg and sausage biscuit breakfast sandwich there (now that McDonalds in Canada has stopped selling the biscuit sandwiches), they aren't bad, especially when it's early and I don't have a chance to make breakfast. That's about all I ever eat there.Comment
