They just put a Tim Hortons in our town a few months ago. It is the first donut chain in this area. My sister and I went a couple weeks ago to try it out. I cannot say we were overly impressed; twice the price of bakery donuts and half the taste.

Ha, the girls were still wearing those ugly brown outfits when I worked there in the late 80's.

Timmies donuts are a mere shadow of what they once were.

What used to be made fresh at each location is now shipped frozen and "proofed" on location (whatever that means).

Most Canadians that I know go there for the coffee, occasionally a bagel with cream cheese or the pretty decent sandwiches and lunch fare that offers a nice alternative to burgers. Few go there for the donuts . . .

Yeah, when I worked there, our location made fresh donuts and cakes daily. There's nothing like eating a freshly made warm donut, fresh out of the deep fryer. I don't drink coffee, but once in awhile I'll stop and get a egg and sausage biscuit breakfast sandwich there (now that McDonalds in Canada has stopped selling the biscuit sandwiches), they aren't bad, especially when it's early and I don't have a chance to make breakfast. That's about all I ever eat there.
