A little bummed out...(toy show related)

    Hi guys,

Today I made plans to go to the San Jose Toy show. Last night it rained, and I began to consider not going. When I woke up this morning at 5a.m. the rain had stopped, but I was still thinking about not making the 3 hour Trek, (by bus and BART) to San Jose. The reason: I really need to downsize my collection. Oh, I'm not going to go crazy, just sell or give away some of the things I really don't care about anymore. This also includes clothes, so I can make space in my hall closet for other things. I really don't want my toyroom to look like an episode of Hoarders, and I can't make room for more toys when there really isn't any. I've already made the concession not to go to the 3 other toy shows this outfit has for this reason, but today is the big holiday one, and it makes me really sad not to go, , but I know it's the right thing to do. I just wanted to share. I will probably give you guys first crack at what needs to go, probably after the New Year.

I can totally relate, but my solution lately has been to get a table at these shows to sell my stuff, and if I do well enough, bring home one things that I really want along with cash in my pocket and a bit more space in my home.

      win-win-win!

I stopped going as well to the san jose toy show for the same reasons. My collection was getting overwhelming from to many purchases. I may go to the next one in a few months but mainly just for an excuse to take the wife to see her brother in frisco. I can relate to the feeling becuase I too kept making up reasons not to go but deep down I really wanted to make the trip.

Sorry it was such a bummer for you BUT the bright side is that you are taking control of your collection and collecting habits, which in my opinion lends itself to a more fun collecting adventure

I'm sorry you missed that show I thinned out my collection earlier this year.

I think most of the heroes go and the monsters stay for me...

I think we all go through it, comes the time to " thin the herd". But in the long run, we all end up keeping things we don't truly love, but keep anyway just because. I know I occasionally fall in love with a character or series only to lose interest in it later on. Purging the excess will only leave you with a better, more enjoyable collection.
