    11:14

In 2003 he was in a really cool, little movie I recommend called 11:14. Its a ensemble piece, so his part is small, but I was happy to see him in it.

Saw something on People magazine's website that confirmed the dire prediction is a little premature. Still, pretty sad story. Kinda weird, though - first word on Jeff Healy, then this news breaks...

I saw that movie, I was pleasantly surprised, very good.

Let's not forget his small but memorable role as that pedo minister in Donnie Darko...that was a good one too.

I Read on BBC that the 5 week thing is bogus. He is responding well to treatment and is still working. He was diagnosed over a month ago. Still that is a rough one to face.

I also am now hearing that the media is making more out of it then necessary. It's true that he does have cancer but they think they have caught it while it's small and many of the doctors are saying that if it is caught earlier enough, the prognosis is usually good.

I remember hearing the same thing about George Harrison

                He was dying .......

Then suddenly "he wasn't that bad"

and shortly after, he was dead.

                Same with Robert Urich

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I wish him all the support in the world...but still...
                  the signs are all there.

I wouldn't be surprised if this focus went suddenly
on him because of that ROAD HOUSE connection to Healy.

Maybe it was an "under wraps" thing that got unwillingly exposed
and now the (unusually) sympathetic (or sue-fearing) press
is aiding in a tempering of the situation.

Michael Landon also had Pancreatic Cancer. I remember him on Carson talking about it. Not long after, he was gone. I thought the same of Bill Bixby but I'm finding conflicting articles mentioning both Pancreatic and Prostate cancer. (perhaps his spread). But both were in their mid 50s and neither lasted long.

I remember Urich's passing and you are correct. That was sad news to the Ohio Valley. He was another Megomeet area resident born and raised. (Toronto, OH).

Pancreatic cancer is a bad cancer. Not that any cancers are good, but I know pancreatic is one of the worst. Very low survival rate.

I also read somewhere that Swayze is a three pack a day smoker (!). Landon smoked like a chimney, too. Glad I quit.....

With a median survival rate of 3-6 months for pancreatic cancer, and a 5 year survival rate of less than 5 percent, unfortunately it is probably time for him to "tend to his affairs" as doctors like to say.

Who remembers him in M*A*S*H* as Pvt. Gary Sturgis? (his character had leukemia, weird huh?) His best role IMO was Bodhi in Point Break. What an awesome movie. Sad news indeed.
