We've always had a tree from a box, bought a new one this year from Home Depot during that Friday shopping sale. Can't believe how much better they are making them now, went togther fast , tons of lights already on it and the cats can almost all fit in it without it falling over .

We always have the same problem with the cat playing with the tree every year. She breaks about half the ornaments by either knocking down the tree or just playing with the dangling ornaments. I completely forgot this year to look for deals on a tree or ornaments during black friday with all the chaos from thanksgiving, my wifes bday landing on the same day, and black friday starting early.Comment

We have had an artificial tree as long as I can remember except for the one year my parents were building a new house. We accidentally packed our tree and ornaments in the very, very back of the storage building that held our belongings while we lived in a tiny mobile home.
My love affair with artificial trees actually started with this,...

My grandpa threw this one away when his parents died in 1986. It was the one thing I had truly wanted from their house. I was so distraught about the tree being gone that three different relatives bought me thrift store aluminum trees that year. Every year, I put my nice artificial tree in the living room, another up in our dormer window, and an aluminum tree in our bedroom. It cannot go out anywhere within the reach of cats, because every cat I have ever owned wants nothing more than to destroy my pretty, pretty silver trees. The other two trees were pristine in their boxes and I have never used them. Their branches are still all in their waxed paper tubes. And in my great grandmother's tradition, my Ever-Gleam only gets blue and red globes.sigpicComment

We had a real tree for a couple of years, but a (decent) fake one is just as good, it lasts forever, and you can proudly say "no trees were harmed to make this a Merry Christmas".
This planet needs every tree alive....

Growing up, we always had a live tree. After I got married in 98, we had a live tree for about the first 3 or 4 years and then switched over to a fake one. While I miss the smell and look of a real Fraser Fir, I don't miss the big needle cleanup afterwards, or the guilt that came along with buying a new one every year.Comment

I'm a live tree man for life. We have smaller artificial trees in the kids' rooms, but our main tree is a live cedar, cut down by yours truly. My father and brother-in-law are going with me this weekend to continue the annual tradition of hunting and cutting each of our household trees.

I was a die-hard live tree guy for most of my life. But my wife and I have done fake trees for about 6 years now. So much easier, and less expensive (in the long run).Comment

Live trees in the Bronx for as long as I can remember. The ordeals that we have been thru picking one out yearly could fill a book lol wouldn't trade those memories for a free fake oneComment
