    Not another one

Was killing time tonight watching the Star Wars marathon on Spike. They had an ad saying they've got a new picker/auction/whatever type show. This time they're hitting thrift stores. Just wish these things would go away.

I also agree. I'm tired of all of these staged shows pretending to make big transactions for second hand goods. It's like watching a real estate infomercial. I think it sends the wrong message and encourages people to be overly zealous with their pricing. No one wins the lottery buying and selling second hand goods. But shows like this sure like to make you think they do it every day.

They seem to want to convince you that everything is worth a fortune these days once you re-sell it.
Buy a second hand beat up fridge: "Yeah, you can get at least $500 for this!!"
        No you can't...

On the up-side, think of all the time you'll save NOT watching tv!

          >I think it sends the wrong message and encourages people to be overly zealous with their pricing

Yeah.... It's the 90's toy boom, but for EVERYTHING! Most of the old stuff I like is pretty obscure, which was great 'cos you could buy it cheap by the ton! (There are some old RPGs that I'd buy in sets of 10 for $5....) But lately a lot of it has been jumping in price. Not necessarily SELLING; just jumping in price....
