What other sides and beverages do you traditionally have w/ your big turkey feast?

Ever since my mom died, I've flown solo on Thanksgiving, (and that's OK), so I have the traditional stuff like stuffing, gravy, crescent rolls, green bean casserole, canned jellied cranberry sauce and I like to drink sparkling cider and egg nog (non spiked).

Mashed Potatoes with Turkey Gravy, Homemade Stuffing, Deviled Eggs, Brown and Serve Rolls and Cinnamon Sticky Buns, Green Beans, Corn. For desert home made Pumpkin Pie, Marie Callender's Chocolate Satin Pie, Cherry Pie, Reddi Whip, Home made Banana Pudding. Drink Wise Just soda pop and water.

I have all of the traditional food, but one unmentioned dish that I really like on Thanksgiving is homemade Chicken & Dumplings.

Gotta have my stuffing and gravy with my turkey...mashed potatoes as well.

Not a fan of cranberry sauce though, but still serve it for others.

Typical garden salad is always appreciated too.

I love the breast, but dark meat on the side is fine as well.

Sparkling apple cider is always present, as well as red wine...beer...and of course, sodas to those who like the simple pleasures in life.

I always have a giant serving...and definitely always have seconds, equally gigantic, lol.

And of course, pie to finish things off.

I will of course curse myself for eating way too much, lol.

The next day, leftovers, oh man, even better, ha...

A few years ago I saw "creamed onions" listed on a Thanksgiving menu. No one in my family had ever heard of it. I began to REALLY enjoy onions about five or so years ago, so it intrigued me. I looked it up and found it to be a Thanksgiving staple in some places. Made it last year and loved it, so trying it again this year. This time, I'm trying Julia Child's method.

Now that I have introduced myself, let me introduce you to my Thanksgiving dinner,...

Yup, I have personally met both turkeys that will be part of our dinner. Mr. Wild Turkey was breasted out and is in our freezer waiting to be patted with a seasoned rub and wrapped in bacon. Mr. Farm Turkey is, as we speak, at the local processor being plucked and readied for Thursday's dinner. I have to pick him up tomorrow morning.

Along with my turkey friends, we will be having mashed potatoes and gravy, sausage stuffing, corn, cranberries, rolls, applesauce, and,....are you ready? Sure you are ready? And pickled deer heart, a fall favorite. All three of my nieces and nephews hunt now, so more deer products will probably be included in our meal.

That reminds me of the time I saw a wild turkey walking down the street. No lie, It must have escaped off a truck or something. My dad used to like sausage stuffing, but he was the only one in the house that would eat it! The rest of us preferred the bread stuffing. And I lived in WI where people hunted, (saw many a gutted buck on top of passing cars), , but I never heard of pickled deer heart.
