Embarrass yourself via your 70's wardrobe!

Going through old photo albums and continually seeing PlaidStallions catalog posts has inspired me... to embarrass myself by sharing what my mom made me wear as a child in the 70's.

Who wants to join in the fun?

Yes, that's my dad wearing a dashiki... because it was popular.

No this wasn't halloween. It was just my mom's sick sense of humor.

I've shown you mine... now let's see some bad fashions.

We had the usual 70s styles, but this homemade outfit still just cracks me up,..

Not so bad in itself, until you realize that mom made a matching one for herself!

Sadly, I have never seen a photo of us wearing them together.

Here is a look Brick would be proud of. This is either '79 or '80. I am the uber cool looking dude on the right.

Will dig out pictures later tonite. There is one of me in 1972 for a grade 2 school picture where I am wearing turquoise bell bottom pants with flowers on them. What the *%&@ were my parents thinking.

I don't have any pictures (Thankfully!) but my parents refused to buy me a new suit for my senior trip in high school (1990) and instead made me wear my dad's 1970's burgundy three piece suit complete with gigantic collar, bell bottoms, a light blue ruffled shirt and a pink tie to top it all off. Oh, and did I mention the suit was too small? I looked like a cross between Austin Powers and Frankenstein.

I wanted to crawl into a friggin' hole an just DIE. I was the laughing stock of the entire class. To this day I cannot ever forgive them for the hell they put me through that day.

Me, aged 2 in 1975, wearing green shirt and purple pants (The Incredible Hulk?):

Me, aged 4 in 1977, with a jalopy shirt:

Me, aged 5, apparently sporting a Native American chic outift:

Me, aged 8, wearing a pink silk shirt and maroon velour suit:

Oh, those wacky '70s! My parents apparently paid a lot for my radical clothes, but not a single dollar on my haircuts (unless you include the price of the bowl they used).

And here's one of me in the present (aged 40) wearing blue shoes. When my wife asks where I got my weird "fashion sense", I show her these pics of me as a kid. LOL!
