    eBay Help

A person in Germany purchased a large lot of Beatles items from me. He bid it up to about $227 (great!). But he started giving me a hard time about shipping. In all my listings, I clearly state that any International orders over $50 are to be sent Priority, no exceptions and that any additional fees (vat taxes, customs fees, etc.) are not my responsibility and that I will not modify any forms.

Right off the bad, he started to complain about the price of shipping and stated it was a lot with the additional fees involved. So despite the fact of what I said in the listing, I agreed to do it First Class. Still, this wasn't good enough. He wanted to pay for the item on eBay and them pay me separately for shipping (as the fees for him are calculated per total with price of item and shipping).

Due to the fact his English is bad, I had a hard time understanding what he wrote and he was taking too long to reply, so I offered it to other buyer with a second chance offer.

Now he seems ****ed and refused to agree to cancel the transaction (I already shipped it to the other buyer).

I just wanted to get paid and not know anything. I am trying to raise money fast. Was I a hot head or did I do the right thing?

Since he refused to close the case, I still have to pay the fees. Fee on $227, plus international shipping plus the insertion fee. Plus the fees when I sold it to the other buyer.

    LOT of money lost there.

Thats ridiculous. I have also had bidders win an item like that and try to complain about shipping prices after the fact. I would dispute it with ebay stating that the person was refusing to pay the shipping price you stated. I guess the worst that could happen is they say no and the fees stay as is. I also had to do this and it held up the purchase for over a month when I originally was selling to make some fast cash.

I'd never offer a second chance until the item is clear of the winning auction and the first bidder is out of the picture.
Hope things work out for you.

I got it worked out. I just called Customer Service and requested a Final Value fee credit and explained. Due to the fact he wanted to do something against eBay rules (pay for shipping off eBay), they granted me the credit.

Another reason why I only ship within the US and to Canada. Way too many headaches and hassles.

Yeah, I figured they'd do that. You made the terms explicitly clear, so if he doesn't like them it's his bad.
