I'm sorry, but good riddance, had nothing but elevated blood pressure dealing with Blockbuster, at one point it was a good company...but it went downhill, horrid customer service, horrid selection, horrid late fees, and simply got outdated (their rental boxes were so inferior to Redbox), and couldn't keep up with the times.

The retail store similar to Blockbuster is Sears, predictions is that Sears will go under in five years from now.

Redbox stations will eventually fall as well...the future is obviously through digital streaming, Netflix is the one that's going to get higger and bigger...as well as Amazon Prime.

We haven't had Blockbusters here in town for many years. Kinda surprised there are actually still retail locations left. Sandy has been with Netflix since they started, so we continue to use their service even though it's diminished a bit with new releases. I tell you I miss Media Play more than any store. I could literally spend hours in there and I always found something when I went.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Good Riddance! They came in our area in 90 or 91 and ruined our 2 Mom and Pop stores that had been around since Video Stores first opened. Looking back those mom and pop stores had everything! The owner of one of those stores became a manager at blockbuster. Their selection was horrible compared to our mom and pop stores. I would often tell this manager that and I could tell by the look in his eyes that I was right he just couldn't say anything because of his job. Yea and the late fees were terrible to!

Well, it's sad for me because it's been right around the corner since I moved to my current location ten years ago. It's nice to be able to grab a classic on a whim and do a family movie night. Now it looks like I gotta get set-up for streaming.

We've been blockbusterless for two years, Canada was still profitable for them but was liquidated to carry the US debt.

One thing I've seen the rise of is Mom and Pop video stores again.

The only good thing Blockbuster had was a video game store called Rhino's. They had games for systems going back to the NES. They sold all of them to Game Stop.

Yeah, our Blockbusters have been gone for quite awhile now. Don't really miss them, I think the last time I rented a movie at one was over 10 years ago. I bought a lot of cheap previously viewed movies there though, I kinda miss that.

I really miss Media Play too. One stop shopping for movies, music, books, toys, etc. I bought a lot of crap there over the years.

All the ones here folded up years ago, surprised me they went away so early. The area was kind of behind the times with streaming type stuff.

I used to have 3 Blockbusters within a mile of me. Two more within five miles of that. Also a Hollywood Video store in walking distance. Befre that there was a ton of them all around. Block Buster was by far the worst one. They were like the Pizza Hut of video stores. They've all been gone for sometime now. The best part of having them so close was the walk to get the movie and to return them. Only having one or two copies of a move, reserving new releases, late fees, the big greasy thumbprint from the last renter on the DVD that you didn't see when you started the movie that freezes the films half way through...I don't miss any of that crap. I passed by a Blockbuster the other day and was surprised to see it still open. I thought they went out a few years ago. I haven't been in a video store in three years now.

Bound to happen. Not just due to streaming but the affordability of physical media for those want it. Why bother renting when for $15-$20 you can own a hi definition copy of something that you're going to watch more than once? Having a huge personal library has also become more common.

The Blockbuster on Lakeshore Ave closed early last year. I haven't rented movies in forever anyway. My niece does when she visits and she goes to a Redbox station.
