>I'm seeing fees in excess of 40% which doesn't included shipping
They might be including a brokerage fee in that.
>I've found to get around it is to just get a mail box in a border town and have it shipped there.
If you order a lot of stuff that might not be a bad idea. There are places in Detroit that advertise here for just that service.
>even shipping a package from USA to USA is getting very expensive
Yeah, some of the charges are really high. I just got a model kit from Hong Kong; took a week to get here, cost $6.50 postage.

Hi CTC I think it would be really hard to come up with a brokerage fee that high, I've seen $5 - $20 at the most for a brokerage fee. I believe the rest of what they are taking is pure profit, seems something is wrong with the calculation that they are using. Would be nice to see a itemized list detailing the charges.Comment

I got dinged by UPS $70 for a shipment of books one. A shipment that COST me $70! UPS got me for $45 on a $60 movie order too. So while I don't disagree that it's a profit grab, I don't think the high fees are that unusual. It's weird that it seems to only be for stuff from the US. I get stuff from Japan, Australia and Germany courrier'd all the time and I don't get charged the huge fees.

Had some success dodging the global shipping fee, I had always got the sellers to send me an invoice and that got me around from paying the import fee for the past few months. Recently I was told that sellers couldn't do that anymore or send an invoice, but the dude I just bought something from tonight sent me the invoice and I got around itworked perfectly! So maybe there is still some hope for us over taxed Canadians!
