    Shadowland Magazine...sad news.

I received a very sad email from my publisher early this morning...due to major problems with the distributor and heavy financial losses, Shadowland Magazine is on hiatus and will very likely not continue. The winter issue has been cancelled.

This means no more magazine covers from me...I'm still very proud of what the magazine was able to accomplish, and at least I got to see the last three issues make it to newsstands nationwide.

The magazine was very well received and I was fortunate to be a part of it. I expect there will be an official announcement in the coming months, and I assume subscribers will have to be notified/refunded as well, but it's not my place to speculate as to when or how that will happen.

Sorry to hear it. Love the 'net but it's sad how it's killed magazines.

So sorry to hear that Dwayne. The printed page is really on hard times. Online access has really delivered a crippling blow to this industry. I hate to hear this news. Your work was exceptional.

^Thanks Tom...it's truly a shame. I've always been old fashioned...sticking to traditional art and resisting digital, and I'll continue to do so. Computers are great for some things, but I really feel they're also gonna be the eventual downfall of our society. How many jobs have been lost to computerization versus how many have been created? Digital magazines may seem great, until you realize the impact they have. My wife lost her job at a printing company when they closed their doors several years back because of the lack of business. How many great magazines, newspapers, etc. have completely disappeared?

That's why I will NEVER partake of digital comics. Will you be able to pull a digital comic out of a box in 20 years and re-read it? Only if the publisher is still around and decides to make the content available to you. No thanks! Same thing is happening with streaming movies and TV shows. When you can't access a physical copy, you're totally at the mercy of someone else deciding whether or not to make a particular movie or show available.
When you have a physical copy of something, it's forever.

I'm sorry to hear this but like everyone else has said the Internet has dealt a serious blow to the print industry.I agree 100% about internet comics I'd rather have the printed version any day.

That's a shame, and I echo the previous sentiments on the dying print industry. I have no doubt, however, that we will see your awesome paintings available commercially again soon!

You did some outstanding work for them. I have no doubt that your covers will be looked upon the same as we look at the cover artwork from the 1970s and 80s.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
