I asked what he like and we gave him a few candy bars, then he let us go with the rest of our candy. kind of ruined the day since we were pretty scared (he was a big teenager).
Now that you say that, I remember I used to obsess over the threat of being jumped by teenagers to get my candy. Not sure where the fear came from. My guess is, my brothers told me some story and my imagination ran with it.

The only real negative I had was outgrowing it too fast. Once every house started asking if I was really the age I said I knew it was over. Some of the best times I ever had was taking my own kids out when they were young. Good times.

Now, since my Dad's birthday is on Halloween we head over to his place and have cake and ice cream while my wife, daughter and Mom pass out candy. They live in a neighborhood full of kids and will be out there for a good 2 hours.

Our family never celebrated Halloween. Me, my brother and sister were brought up in a strict religious upbringing, and that ruined the fun of it. I always loved Halloween even then when I couldn't celebrated it. I used to run to the front door or look out from one the windows just to see what the kids were dressed up as, and when we were at school the teachers would have small parties for us in our classrooms that lasted until it was time to go home, even though I couldn't dress up in a costume along with everyone else.

Man, I loved going trick or treating, and now that I have kids I'm happy that I can do it again. My only negative experience was when I was around 10 or 11 years old. My friend and I were out trick or treating by ourselves (he was dressed up as Ace Frehley, I was Peter Criss). We were almost done and ready to head back home, and then some bigger kid that was walking by us grabbed my friend's candy and took off. We had no chance, he was bigger and faster than us, so we walked back home, my friend kind of crying (what a long, grim, sad walk that was!). My sister (who had wisely, in retrospect, gone out getting candy with my dad along instead) and I ended up giving my friend a bunch of our candy, so he felt a bit better after that. But man, what a way to wreck a kid's Halloween, that big jerk...

Exactly, it was way over too fast for me as well...fondly remember my Halloween experiences from age 3 or 4, then nothing but fun until age seven or eight, and BAM, it was all over for me, what a bummer man, what a bummer.

The last year I went out trick or treating I got robbed.

Some other kids a little older than me stopped and asked if I had any matches- I had some fireworks- so yeah, I did. They must have thought I would put my bag (pillow case) down but I had it over my shoulder and someone grabbed it from behind and tried to run with it- I held on but when he came around the front side holding the bag , he had his other hand high in the air and said let go or I'll cut your ***- I let go.

I've always loved Halloween but was a very shy child so I wasn't into trick or treating. Halloween night was about watching all the fun spooky shows on TV late into the night.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

How could u anyone have negative memories about Halloween. I mean really, we had it the best. Pillow cases full of candy, no lights out. Wow, people will take any thing good and make it nasty.

It's nice that your memories were so good, but obviously not all of us were so lucky.
