    Saturday Morning TV

What is wrong with Saturday morning tv these days? Can you guys tell me that? Ha. I just saw a Scooby Doo/ Shaggy show, that looked really wierd. Looked something like Scooby and Shaggy, but in a way, looked different. Flipping thu the channels, I came across a show (Disney) which featured a young egyptian soon to be emperor, that had to go to school to become emperor one day. I heard him say "Its all about me". Hmmm, thats a good message for kids to pick up on. Anyway, since the good people in congress and Peggy Cheron passed the Childrens Television Act back in 1990, I have not seen anything so called educational. Mayby im blind, or stupid, I dont know, could be, but I dont get it or see it. Thats what you get when the government and other stupid people get involved with something they should stay out of. Let kids be kids. We went to school for 5 days a week, and Saturday was our release, or getaway, our fantasy for 4-5 hrs. Poor kids are pretty much denied that today I believe. Everything has to be more serious. Let kids be kids, but I guess thats out of the norm now adays....

      Saturday Morning

Yes, I do remember that. I actually liked that, but then again, I remember wanting it to end and get on to a cartoon, or live action show. Ha

There is a full hr of THE Batman on Today at 11, with the Justice Leauge team up. That is pretty good cartoon programing.

That's why I have so much retro Saturday monring stuff on tape. I just finished watching: MUSH, Fraidy Cat, Wacky & Packy (from Uncle Croc's Block) The Lost Saucer, Lassie's Rescue Rangers, Land Of The Lost, Fat Albert and Shazam (live action).

But I do like tossing in commercials or the old PSAs: In The News, SchoolHouse Rock, Time for Timer. Yes, nothing beat Saturday morning in the 70s.

Next weekend - will we be disappointed or pleasantly surprised by the newsest Spidey cartoon?

I loved cartoons from 73 - 78 because i was a kid and 93 - 2000 because of Batman (i got on board a year late) x-men spider-man and THE TICK I loved these 4 shows. Through in Silver Surfer and even though not very good the marvel hour.
I was surprised to see that some peole here don't like xmen and spidey.

Currently i don't watch much saturday morning stuff.

My daughter likes legion of SH and the Batman.

What's wrong with today's Saturday morning cartoons?

                      I'll tell you what's wrong...

                      Cable, internet, video games, etc...

Back in the day we only had three Networks, and a few other UHF & VHF channels, that was it.

So all the effort was placed for the kiddies on Saturdays by the big three, NBC, CBS, and ABC.

Now we have the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, The Cartoon Network, etc...

                      It's just not the same.

I'm afraid those days are long gone.

                      Different world, different times.

I remember being a kid on a Saturday morning. My Brother and I would alternate picking cartoons (he'd pick then I'd pick then he'd pick....). My Saturday morning was a mix of Super Friends, Thundarr the Barbarian, Bugs Bunny, Land of the Lost (I know...not a cartoon). Boy....I miss those days.

I think if we were all 8-12 years old again and given the choice between what we grew up with in our respective era's, and what the kids have now, 99% of us would pick what's new now. As much as you may have fond memories of your Atari, are you really (as a 8-12 yr old) going to pick that over the Wii? I too am sometimes surprised by kids lack of what I considered the "life blood" of youth - cartoons, comics, action figures etc. but what do you expect? comics cost $5 an issue, video games (gears of war, call of duty 4, unreal tourny 3 etc) look cooler than any cartoon ever made and are interactive, and toys today just suck because the companys don't want to lose money on unsuccessful attempts at anything new, so they just crank out the "standards" batman,spider-man, etc. I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything but I gotta admit that the kids today really have some cool stuff and if I were a kid again I'd probily think toys are silly. I hope my kids dig my toys, it's why I started to collect in the first place, but chances are they will remain on my shelves while the kids play their wii-station-720's.
