Reading Obituaries (another sign of getting old?)

Lately i've started reading the obituaries online for the local newspaper where I grew up.

I used to wonder why my mom was always infatuated with with local obituaries.

Now I see --- Think it's a part of getting old

I scan them every day. I only read the ones that catch my eye which is usually either a familiar name or someone in my town. kind of keeps tabs on who I know that has passed. unfortunately, sometimes I read about someone I did know and was not even aware they had died until I see the obit. I find all to often it is someone taken far before their time
