Ever make a mistake on eBay and not find out until its too late?

I'm so ****ed right now! I was rushing this afternoon and put a rare set of action figures on the bay and didn't realize I mistyped the amount of 129 and instead typed 29. Before I even had a chance to look at the "my eBay" screen some dude hit the bin. So I just screwed myself out of a hundred bucks!

He's already paid and requesting a tracking number so I doubt he would understand it was a typo and not give me negative feedback.

Well, like I remember the Asian wisdom from herbie the love bug...." Hurry is waste, waste is cracked bowl that holds no rice"

Yeah, and I've been on the other side of that too. Bought something and was told it was an error and they cancelled my auction. I guess you can feel the guy out and see what he says, but I would expect a negative feedback, so depends on your tolerance on getting a negative.

Uncanny, that happened to me just yesterday. I've been posting a bunch of M. Alexander dolls that just recently fell into my lap of which I don't collect so I been listing them as fast and furious as I can and on one I listed starting bid as .99 instead of 9.99 and of course there is already a bid. But a quite a bit of watchers so it may still work out in the end

I'm afraid that you're just going to get your $29.
By offering an item on Ebay, it's a binding contract once the buyer has paid and fulfilled his end of the agreement.
At least, that's how I think it is...

Pay the guy back and take the negative

            That's what I would do

Nobody has a gun at your head to ship them out

Yea, you can refund the money and try to cancel the auction.

I'd try to work something out. Maybe you explain the error, apologize, and offer to split the difference and let them go for $79? If you get a Neg and he doesn't get his figures... nobody is happy.

Like others have said, you have two options. You can take the loss and ship the figures for what they sold for, or you can refund his money and most likely get a negative. I think I would just refund the money and take the negative.

You cant cancel the auction once it ends unless the bidder agrees to it, and I doubt very much he/she would. That choice would be up to you. I also wouldn't try to work anything out with the buyer either. You could end up making a deal with him where he pays more. Then what happens if he decides to say that he didn't get the item? You could then be out the figures and possibly the money as well. Ebay tends to side with the buyer in almost all cases. He could also report you for trying to charge him more after he already paid.

Nowadays a few negatives don't even matter

Most buyers realize the system is screwed up and a neg or 2 don't drive them away

Well, my name/rep is worth more to me than $100, So I shipped the figures. It would really suck if the guy acted like a tool about a corner being bent, or a bubble being slightly yellow and gave me a negative anyways!

Oh well, I'll just not buy my kids new shoes this year.*

Good for you, Access, I think you did the right thing. As you say, your reputation is worth more than $100, and hopefully this brings you some good karma.

I would've done the very same thing...you made a mistake, it happens, has happened to me as well, but the buyer had nothing to do with anything, he hit the listed BIN, he won the item, simple as that.

I care about my reputation as a seller as well, the $100 comes and goes, not your perfect positive feedback or reputation.

BTW, the people who are telling you to take the negative, give the money back, and relist the item at the intended corect higher amount...if they were the buyer, and you did that to them, they'd be the first ones complaining about what a "no-good-evil-dishonest" seller you are, lol.

Everyone does what they think is right, me I would have refunded, apologized and re-listed. Business is business. If you get billed by the power company and it was less than than what you owed, do you think they would not send an additional bill, if they caught it? Not that, that's the best comparison, but all I could think of at the moment.

Hey guys, I was venting about a bad bit of luck I had, I really don't want this to devolve into passing judgement about whatever choice someone else would have made.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with people on this forum, I think y'all are pretty cool!
