I take extreme offense to your comments. As someone who has personally seen one of these "fairytales" up close, I need no further proof. If you arrogantly believe that an indigenous species of animal cannot remain hidden from man deep within millions of acres of unexplored forests you are mistaken. Christopher Knight, the "North Pond Hermit" successfully eluded capture in the Maine woods for 27 years, and authorities KNEW he was in there. BTW, my critical thinking surpasses that of a college professor. My I.Q. is 135.
Where is the fossil evidence to support bigfoot's existence? Do their bones magically disappear when they die?
Do you also believe in The Loch Ness Monster? Chupacabra? Mothman?Comment

For there to be even one bigfoot in existence today, millions of these creatures would have had to exist throughout the centuries.
Nope. Given that the lifespan of most great apes is 50 to 70 years, a small population of only a few thousand could easily survive throughout the centuries.
Where is the fossil evidence to support bigfoot's existence? Do their bones magically disappear when they die?
Yes. Between rotting and scavengers, only one set of chimpanzee remains have EVER been found in the wild. EVER. Look it up.
Do you also believe in The Loch Ness Monster? Chupacabra? Mothman?
Or God? Where is the evidence of his existence? Yet millions of believers flock to church every week without question.Last edited by enyawd72; Oct 5, '13, 1:12 AM.Comment

In any case, let's please keep the arguments off the subject of religion because the kind people that run this site have specifically asked us not to discuss religion.Comment

To see how my argument applies, I shall simply state that I have faith Bigfoot exists. See? Now no proof is required.Comment

Most chimps live in the rain forests of West and central Africa where acidic soil and high rainfall levels hamper fossil preservation.
This isn't the case with bigfoot.
Bigfoot sighting have been reported in all 50 states, and throughout most of the world. Fossil evidence should be plentiful.
Just curious. Do you believe in bionic bigfoot too, or just the regular kind?Last edited by GlobalObserver; Oct 5, '13, 2:20 AM.Comment

I'm simply pointing out that by all your standards of critical thinking, believing in Bigfoot is no more or less justified than believing in a divine being.
To see how my argument applies, I shall simply state that I have faith Bigfoot exists. See? Now no proof is required.
If someone wants to believe in ANYTHING without the support of evidence they're free to do that, but they should understand where that type of belief fits. It does not fit in the realm of reason or science. Faith based "belief" is different than scientific "belief" that way - I think that's why people often pin the two systems of "believing" against each other.
If you're saying you reject science then I don't get your position, because you clearly seem interested in the science aspects of what you're arguing. That's what's confusing about your argument, to me. You also seem frustrated that more people don't agree with your point of view. Understanding why people don't believe in what you're arguing will only help strengthen your case OR help you question your beliefs, so I think it makes sense to check out the "other side" for both of those reasons. I've personally spent a lot of time reading about Bigfoot theories, hearing people's claims, reading accounts and arguments.
To clarify one other point, these are not MY standards of critical thinking. Critical thinking is the process of reasoning, it's got specific criteria and tools. What these criteria and tools do is put every theory on a level playing field.
I suspect that you think I'm cherry picking ideas from critical thinking practices just to fit my original assumption, but that is not true. I didn't even originally assume Bigfoot wasn't likely to exist until I started learning about critical thinking.Last edited by Brazoo; Oct 5, '13, 5:47 AM.Comment

That's BS man. I hate to hear that happened to you. It's folks like that who really hack me off. Being flat out rude and bullying someone in the guise of "comedy" is terrible. :( Again, sorry buddy.Comment

I believe that Bigfoot is an undiscovered species of ape.
The hows, whys, whens, and wheres are for science to answer.
Just because science has not answered the questions yet does not mean the answers are not there.
Copernicus's theory was accept as scientific fact, until it wasn't. He didn't lack critical thinking. What he lacked was technology. Galileo had it, and discovered something new.
I reiterate, I believe it is an UNDISCOVERED species.
It's just waiting for discovery.
Just like the okapi, komodo dragon, the giant panda, the coelacanth, the mountain gorilla... all unknown species known only as legend by the western world, until they were discovered.Last edited by LadyZod; Oct 5, '13, 9:52 AM.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GlobalObserver and Brazoo, This is my last comment on this subject.
I'm tired of the snarky comments, the wordy essays on critical thinking, etc.
I don't need any proof Bigfoot exists. I'VE SEEN IT. Do you understand that? From no more than 20 feet away, I'VE SEEN IT.
It's not my opinion, it's not up for discussion, it's a FACT.
If you can't accept that, then you're either calling me a liar, or insulting my intelligence by telling me I imagined it or am confused.
I am so sick of know-it-alls telling me something I freaking saw with my own two eyes isn't real.Comment

I don't doubt you've seen it...my problem is why can't folks get CLEAR photo's and CLEAR video footage of this thing?? Too bad you didn't take a picture of it.Having today's cellphone technology with having camera's in them,it should be easy to get some legit photograph's by now.If I saw one,my phone would be out to take some pics to prove what I saw.
I run in the mornings along rural trails, with my cellphone. Sometimes I come across deer in a clearing. I whip out the iPhone and BAM, the deer are gone. No pics.
I've seen bears, wild boars, deer, bunnies... can't capture them on the freaking phone camera. And it's not a lack of ability, cause I am king of cellphone pics. Wild animals are just quicker, and smarter than they are given credit for.
So bigfoot alluding cellphone pics... ya, I can see that happening.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ever try doing that for real?

Put yourself in enywad77's shoes. Here are pics of animals. Pretend these have never been seen by anyone else but you. How do you think people would react if you saw one of these for the first time and you tried to describe these to someone who never saw one? You would be laughed at:
It made noises like a dog like a dog but with swam in the water...
It had a long neck and stood 3 stories tall
It was black and white but like a horse...
It was black and white but like a bird and didn't fly...
It was black and white...
And...it looked very human-almost man-like.
If you really don't think it's a real animal then fine. Maybe you should also stay out of these threads and stop upsetting people who have seen it. Just like when there was a rule that if you hated the show Smallville people were asked to stay out of those threads and stop defecating on the people who enjoyed talking about it.Last edited by johnmiic; Oct 5, '13, 1:02 PM.Comment
