Finding old stuff you thought you lost..

Anyone ever find something you thought you lost years ago only to find it again years later? Or a friend or family member find something of yours years later and return it?

Yes. A toy in both cases.

A white Hot Wheels die-cast toy jeep I had left at my grandmothers' house. I had left it there in the early summer of 1982 when I was 11 and my grandmother put it aside somewhere and she couldn't remember where and she never could find it. So I considered it lost. Fast-forward roughly 30 years and when my brothers were helping my aunt (who has since passed) move out of that same house came across it. It was returned to me that same day.

Then there was my cape-less Jawa figure I had mentioned here on the boards before in the Pod Stallions Episode 3 thread. I had lost it in 1979 playing in the back yard when I was a kid and fast forward to 1991 or so when my dad was digging guide holes for the posts of our deck (since converted into a storage shed). Purely by chance he dug up my Jawa figure and returned it to me.

When I was a kid I had a 1958 Mickey Mantle card that I traded another neighborhood kid for. It was the only old baseball card I ever had growing up. I showed it to everyone and for a time it was kind of my prized possession. One day the card just disappeared and well, I though another neighborhood kid stole it when I showed him my card collection. He was an "outside friend" you know the kind of kid that comes around and you play with him outside because your mom doesn't want him in the house. I only let him in that one time and the card went missing right after. Like that day. For 24 years, I was convinced this kid James had plucked it. Boy was I wrong. A few weeks ago my parents redid their basement and all of my old comic books that I never took with me when I moved came over to my house. When I eventually went through them, I found the card I thought I'd lost when I was 11 years old impressed between two comic books.. I have no idea how it got in there but when I was going through all that stuff I hadn't touched since I was maybe 16, there it was. I was floored. It was an awesome find and it's up in my bedroom right now on a shelf.

          I love hearing these stories!
A friend of mine recently gave me his old record collection. Inside his old Kiss records were old report cards, pictures, letters, etc.
I gave them back to him and he had no clue they were there!

I just found my Predator CD which I had lost during a move 8 years ago. The move was a lot of hard work, and I used that music to fuel my "fighting spirit" while I was hauling heavy boxes and furniture.
I had just bought a replacement a couple of months back, having given up looking for it...
