For you LP record guys, found this Gem for a buck!! Buddy Holly baby

What do you guys think? it's a first pressing in pretty much mint condition..I got it for a $1 , along with a bunch of the Doors, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan's

I saw a few sell for over $375 and this condition they're asking close to $800!! 1186296_10151933404679283_1820042598_n.jpg

Do some research on the Buddy Holly. Here's one for a buy it now of $25 and no one has hit the BIN:

Many different label variations. The main thing is the sound of the record. Scratched to where you can feel the scratches in the vinyl...you might as well just throw the record away. A buck is a great price. I would have bought it just for the cover for that price.

no mine is the first pressing with the Maroon label, in just about flawless condition with original cellophane inside and everything like these

I already had a record expert drooling over it when I found it..He said he'd never seen one in such nice condition

I kind of felt bad, where I buy my stuff there's experts for everything..people who deal in all sorts of things. I wait for the toys but it just so happens that the Records come out in the same cart as the toys..we were both there waiting, the girl brings out about 200, he crabs about 200+ and throws it in his cart, I pull a stack of about 50 he's looking at my like what the f...? He knows I usually take only elvis's , Beatles and Kiss stuff...I yell out holy crap Buddy Holly! he comes running, I swear I thought he was gonna cry..( he's an old dude who's addicted to Records) I was going to give it to him till he tried to low ball me and tell me in his store they sell them for $25, then his buddy walks in and tells him look Bob the record you've been looking for..didn't this sell for like $400?

Holly only released 3 full 33 1/3 albums before he died. This one, That'll Be The Day, and the most desirable one, The Chirping Crickets. Any of those three records will attract attention since he was actually living when they were pressed and all three are hard to find in the wild. Usually people find something post 1959, like The Buddy Holly Story from 1960, and they think they found gold. The record you got came out in 1958 and is most noted for having Peggy Sue on it. I'd say the guy asking $800 for it is out of his mind. The guy that got $375 got that for it because his is apparently mint and the right pressing to have. I wonder how long he had it for sale before someone came along and plunked down what he was asking. That's the thing with records, most collectors like your friend wanna find this in the dollar bin. Usually when people ask top dollar for them, they tend to sit for ever. When sellers bring the price down even just a bit, they tend to move in a hurry. If your's is exactly like the one that sold for $375 then I'd expect you'd be able to sell it in the $200 range without problems but you may have it for a while trying to get upwards of $375. Either way great find.

I'm going to echo Red Hulk's comment — if it doesn't sell, you get to keep it, which means you have more incredible Buddy Holly music in your life. Long live rock!!!!!

I've done a lot worse by taking gambles on crap music that I paid more than a dollar for and that I didn't even like well enough to keep after not being able to sell it. LOL.

I've got the Chirping Crickets one, pretty beat around the edges, but it's a copy. I was collecting all the 50's rockers first lp's and framing them up. Had about 20-30 different one. Think the only one I really needed was Carl Perkins but it's a $500 record so...

Did you ever really look at the cover to the Chirping Crickets? I mean whoever took that photo had the band staring directly into the sun and the guy to Holly's right has got some of the worst chompers in history and is squinting so hard he's making what looks like a permanent "O" face. Couldn't the photographer you know, turn them around or was there really something just too interesting happening slightly off to the left that this photo had to be taken in the moment. For such an iconic image, it's one of the most awkward photo's used on an LP cover.

                          Awesome grab, Damien!

Buddy Holly is one of my all time favorites...the guy was an innovator...what a shame that he died so damn young.
