Not sure if anyone can help, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Fisher stereos. For a while, I've been looking for a stereo console to gut and turn into a tv stand/entertainment center. I stumbled across this bad boy at an antique shop in South Haven, Michigan and was able to pick it up for $30. There aren't any stereo components left in it (tuner, turntable), but there are some speaker parts. Before I started working on it, I wanted to get some info on the stereo console itself. Does anybody know the name and year of this model? Would love to have some history on it, so I can refinish it to something close to its original glory. It's got great lines and looks like a really interesting piece. Speaker covers have some stains and the top has some gouges/scratches/rings/etc. that need to be taken care of.
The top storage area that used to house the tuner will have one shelf put in and will hold a DVD player and cable box. The lower storage area has a pull-out drawer installed that used to hold the turntable. I'm thinking of turning it into a basket that holds video game controllers and whatnot. The speakers will be taken out and I'll hinge the speaker covers. Planning on installing a couple of shelves in the speaker area that will hold movies.
Here are a couple of shots.
Thanks in advance for any information.
