    You ever get told...

That you live in the past? Cause you like things from the 70's or 80's or any other decade? I get told that all the time. I always live for today but I really liked that period of time and certain elements never left me as Im sure it hasn't for most people reading this. Its like when your mom would say something is a phase and you will grow out of it but you never do!

Yes I get that too, if not in so many words then by mere looks. I don't care, these things are my memories, my loves and the part of my life where I was happy so eff them if they don't get it

The 70s/80s were the best years to be a kid that's my era I wouldn't let people who don't get it bother me.

"Old soul," "Born too late," even "Captain America." I had to ask what the last one meant (I know Capt. of course, but not really his story) but I've heard it all. I freely admit that I'd rather live in the past and try my damndest to do so. I'm a 30 year old "old man," and I love it.

I prefer the past to anything currently going on with me today, so if I am told that I take it as a compliment rather than the intended use for it

I was just watching an old Torchy Blane movie on TMC, Smart Blonde. I'd catch some heat if the guys at work knew that. But you know what? I like what I like.

                  Hmmmm....

I get the opposite. I make suggestions for things the folks at work should check out, and when they do they invariably find out their kids have known about them for a while.

To be honest I actually pity people who can't make that special connection with their past. To be able to have something bring you back to certain place and time even if for a short time is magical. I also pride myself on owning things that can never be replaced, such as some furniture and other items from Grandparents house that my cousins and I cherished as kids. Comics and magazines from childhood stores long gone. To most places that that are completely, irrevocably gone. I'm lucky enough to have a piece of it to see every day. One of the highlights of my year was giving one of my cousins (who feels the same way I do) a the kitchen clock from that house because I just had it a box and it wasn't doing anything. It was obvious the second I showed it to her it meant the world to the her and if I wasn't the way I am that moment never would have happened.

I rue the fact that the things I liked growing up are gone and date me. I never thought it would happen to "my generation". That's pretty naive of me because it has happened to every generation that preceded me.

I seek out the comics/issues I missed from the 80's and I don't buy any if the new 52 stuff from DC.

I've been building a playlist of songs of the 1990's more than adding current songs to my iPod.

I enjoy the fact that DVD prices are hitting rock bottom so I can buy more of my favorite old TV series.

It definitely is. Don't get me wrong; I don't hate the past.... lots of good stuff there, including stuff I didn't get to partake of the first time.... but I find there's lots of good stuff in the now, too.

Yes. Mostly with the video games. I bought a wii earlier this month and my brother-in-law was like, "welcome to 2006". Things from the past were always just better, I think.

The 70s was definitely my favorite decade...by a mile.

But I do like the comforts of modern stuff today as well...it's just a different feeling.
