I am sure this must have come up in the past but I was wondering what people think is nicer to display for a Mego collection. I think the boxes look awesome but you cannot see all of the figure. I feel that the cards allow you to see all of the figure. Any opinions ?

It depends on what you are going for. For pure display the cards have the advantage for the reason you noted. As far variety boxes are going to win out slightly due to how hard it is find certain characters carded and that's IF you have the money on top of it all. With boxes while there are tougher ones it's possible to complete a set of every character or at least get closer to doing so than you would with cards. For myself I like to pick up whatever I can on both. But for the reasons stated above it's why I have 3x as many boxed figures as I do carded. -

Being that my first Mego's way back when were carded I still prefer the cards. That includes Repro cards in clamshells. The boxes are cool but no real connection for my nostalgia needs. I do enjoy seeing the custom boxes as they really take the box aspect to a whole different level.Comment

For me the Boxes are easier to display , but yeah the cards look cool hanging in a clamshell on the wall.
For customs i go with the Boxes."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

Personally, I don't like the look of cards at all. I feel the window boxes display better and as was stated before, it keeps the dust off of them. That's why I bought repro boxes for all my megos...$10 (from the toyroom) for a little personalized display case ain't bad. I mostly collect everything loose, but concerning megos, I feel they display much better in a boxYou will always be your child's favorite toy. ~Vicki LanskyComment

Before I collected monsters, I collected Mego WGSH. I had a near-complete boxed set with some doubles and triples. Sold/traded it all when I decided to focus on monsters. I collected boxes because most of my childhood Megos were boxed versions. By the time the cards came out, I was moving away from Megos. I think my Thing came off a card, but that might have been the only one. As an adult collector, the boxed Megos gave me more of a nostalgia rush than the carded ones.Comment
